  • Objective:-The main objective of Subhadra Yojana is to provide financial assistance to economically weaker sections of women, thereby increasing their economic empowerment. Under this scheme, eligible women will get Rs 50,000 for five years starting from the financial year 2024-25. The funds are transferred directly to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts in two annual installments of Rs 5,000, which are disbursed on Rakhi Bandhan and International Women's Day.
  • Primary Benefits:-
  1. In a major move towards women empowerment, the government has launched a financial assistance scheme targeting economically weaker women aged between 21 and 60 years. Eligible women—excluding government employees, income-tax payers, and those already receiving over ₹1,500 per month under other schemes—will receive annual support of ₹10,000, distributed in two equal installments of ₹5,000.
  2. The scheme, set to run for five years (2024–2029), began its registration on September 1, 2024. Already, over 50 lakh women have signed up, with no deadline in place to ensure inclusive participation.
  3. To promote digital transactions, incentives of ₹500 will be awarded to the top 100 beneficiaries in each gram panchayat and urban area with the highest number of digital payments. Beneficiaries will also be issued a "Subhadra Debit Card" to ensure smooth and secure transactions.

The government aims to use the JAM trinity (Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile) to ensure efficient disbursement of funds. Beneficiaries will have to complete e-KYC to qualify for this scheme. As of September 17, 2024, Rs 1,250 crore has been transferred to over 25 lakh registered women.
